Abstract

Silk infusion and corn seeds juice had an antihypertensive effect in male rats (Rattus norvegicus). However, the infusion and juice dosage form were unpracticed and unstable in storage. This dosage form can be developed by extracts. This research aimed to prove the antihypertensive effect of silk and seeds combination etanol extract (SSCEE) on MSG–induced hypertensive rats glutamate and determined its antyhipertensive effect based on dose. This study was an experimental using randomized pre-test and post-test matched control group design. EEKRDBJ is made using the maceration method. Hypertensive rats were treated with MSG 100 mg/kgBW/day for 14 days until systolic blood pressure ≥ 150 mmHg. Sample were 25 hypertensive rats, divided into five groups. Group I (hypertension control) was treated with CMC-Na 0.5% 12.5 mL, group II was treated with furosemide 5.04 mg/kgBW/day, group III, IV and V treated with EERDBJ (125, 250 and 500) mg/kgBW/day. Suspension given once a day for 14 days (p.o). The observed data were differences in systolic and diastolic blood pressure before and after treated of suspension test and the difference in blood pressure decreace. That was statistically analized using different test. The results showed that SSCEE had the antihypertensive effect on MSGinduced hypertensive rats. However, the antihypertensive effect of SSCEE does not follow a dose-dependent pattern.
