Abstract

This research is motivated by technology globalization, which makes it easy in international relations or relations between countries, ease in the migration system, the presence of free trade, open domestic economy, and liberal international finance. The purpose of this research is to find out the reasons for ASEAN to develop the ASEAN Smart Cities Network program. This program is based on the globalization of technology listed in the 4.0 industrial revolution. In this study contains the reasons for ASEAN to develop the ASCN program. The author uses library research research methods which take from books, journals, and news. Among them took from several journals as well as several books and sources from online news. The written research will lead to qualitative analytic research. By giving a careful explanation of ASEAN and ASCN about the circumstances and symptoms that occur. There are 6 reasons summarized by researchers covering cultural heritage, lifestyle health and well-being, safety and security, environmental quality, infrastructure and industry and innovation.
