Abstract

Green grass cincau jelly leaves had an antihypertension effect. This research aimed to prove the antihypertension effect of green cincau leaves ethanol extract (GCLEE) to MSG-induced hypertension rats and to determine its antihypertension effect based on dose. This research using randomized pre-test and post-test matched control group design. GCLEE produces by maceration method. The sample were 25 male Wistar rats treated with MSG 100 mg/kg BW/day (p.o) for 14 days. Hypertension rats were divided into five treatment groups, are hypertension control group (CMC-Na 12.5 mg/kg BW/day), positive control group (furosemid 5.04 mg/kg BW/day), and GCLEE ( 67.5, 135 and 270) mg/kg BW/day. The extracts were given once a day for 14 days. The data were differences in systolic and diastolic blood pressure before and after extracts treatment analyzed by the paired T-test or Wilcoxon. The decrease in blood pressure after treatment were statistically analyzed by One Way ANOVA. The result shows that GCLEE (67.5, 135 dan 270 mg/kg BW/day) had the antihypertension effect on MSG-induced hypertension rats. However, the antihypertension effect of the GCLEE does not follow a dose-dependent pattern.
