Abstract

Diplomacy is one of the problem solving forms that prioritizes the elements of peace. Diplomacy can be done by anyone through anything, one of them are through the culture. The aim of this paper is to determine what factors that support India to use Bollywood as one of the instruments of diplomacy in order to reduce conflict with Pakistan. The result of this research shows the factors that support India to use Bollywood as one of the instruments of diplomacy in reducing the conflict with Pakistan, which are (1) the national culture similarity between India and Pakistan that can not be denied. (2) The story of India and pakistan, will invite the audiences (in Pakistan) to flashback in peacetime before the conflict. (3) The Bollywood movie has made Pakistan come to be recognized in the world. (4) The political pace of Pakistan’s government showing that Pakistan wants to be seen as a independent state, improving the country’s economy and open up to get better relations with India. Through the film industry called Bollywood, India try to show and build its culture and identity as a whole to achieve their national interest. This effort’s also applied in improving the relations between India and pakistan.
