Abstract
Bees wax has a higher melting point than Paraffin wax, but the use of large amounts of Bees wax can produce dull and uneven surfaces. Paraffin wax can mix with a number of wax-based products, and is used to make products more creamy and shiny. This study aims to determine the difference in concentrations of Bees wax and paraffin wax to physical properties of dragon fruit skin juice (Hylocereus costaricensis). The process of extraction is done by the method of squeeze. Lipstick is made by melting method. 5 lipstick formula comparison base Bees wax and Paraffin wax 1: 1, 1: 2, 3: 1, 2: 1, 1: 3 produced tested characteristic of physical properties. The organileptic test, homogeneity, pH, and test were analyzed descriptively. Lipstick hardness test was analyzed using One Way Anova test with 95% confidence level followed by Tuckey test, while melting point test was analyzed using Kruska wallis test followed by Man Whitney. The results showed lipstick with a combination of Bees wax and paraffin wax extract of dragon fruit leaf 25% of formula 1-5 can produce doses that are pink, not having good, homogeneous, pH 5,03; causing a difference in hardness and melting point in the formula 2,3,4,5.
