Abstract

Treatment of cervical cancer is developed towards compounds that can be combined with chemotherapy agents in killing cancer cells. Panduratin A has the potentially become co-chemotherapy agent. The aim of this research was to know the cytotoxic potency of key ethanolic extracts (Boesenbergia pandurata) to know the effect of synergism on doxorubicin on HeLa cervical cancer cell based on the value of the obtained combination index. This research was experimental in invitro with several test stages, namely, plant determination, extract preparation, preparation of test solution, cell preparation, single and combination cytotoxicity test. The extraction of simplicia of temu kunci rhizomes use maceration methode with ethanol 70%. Ethanolic extract of the temu kunci rhizome experiments tested its cytotoxic effect on cervical cancer cell HeLa use MTT assay method, either single treatment or combination with doxorubicin to obtain IC 50 and combination index (CI). The combination index (CI) was calculated to determine whether the resulting effect is synergistic, additive, or antagonistic. Result of this research that’s the ethanolic extract of temu kunci rhizomes has synergistic effect when combined with doxorubicin. The value of IC 50 is 75,119 μg/ml. The combination of ethanolic extract of temu kunci rhizome and doxorubicin white concentration ratio ( and ) was able shows a synergistic effect with a Cl score of 0,5.
